Next big bet: MVP looks to resorts, hotels for growth, explores partnership with the Antonio Group

Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC) Chairman and CEO Manny V. Pangilinan recently met with Century Properties Group (CPG) Chairman Ambassador Jose E.B. “Joey” Antonio and his son, Robbie, at the PLDT headquarters, fueling speculation about a potential collaboration between the two business giants.

Babbler said the meeting focused on exploring opportunities in tourism-related developments. “We take stock of each other’s landbank and see what we can do, especially on the tourism side. As you know, the MVP Group has also pivoted to tourism,” Babler said.

MPIC, through its subsidiary Landco Pacific, has built a significant presence in the leisure and tourism sector, with two prime resorts in Batangas: the 15-hectare Calatagan South Beach (CaSoBe) and the 23-hectare Club Laiya, both renowned for their stunning beachfront locations.

Landco’s latest developments in these resorts are designed to attract high-end tourists, with luxury beachfront condotels. The Nautilus at CaSoBe and The Spinnaker at Club Laiya offer promising rental income potential, capitalizing on the booming tourism market.

These properties blend upscale living with the charm of the Batangas coast, catering to vacationers seeking exclusivity and comfort.

Landco Pacific’s The Residences at Terrazas de Punta Fuego in Nasugbu, Batangas, offers an unmatched luxury experience. This exclusive, low-density beachfront condominium features one to three-bedroom apartments across three elegant clusters, providing residents with panoramic views of Nasugbu Bay. The design elegantly fuses Spanish Mediterranean and Asian Tropical architectural styles.

In line with MPIC’s expansion into the hospitality sector, Landco is also considering the development of a five-star hotel in Baguio, signaling its continued commitment to meeting the growing demand for premium accommodations in key tourist destinations.

The Antonios, who have long maintained a strong business relationship with the Trump family, are no strangers to luxury developments. Robbie, in particular, played a pivotal role in facilitating the Trump Organization’s entry into the Philippines with the Trump Tower Manila project, further solidifying their reputation in high-end real estate. This connection could provide strategic leverage should discussions with MPIC evolve into a formal collaboration.

MPIC Head of Government Relations and Public Affairs Mike Toledo was also present at the meeting.
